Beds for Babies
Many of the families who receive care packages from us are unable to provide a safe bed for their infants and toddlers to sleep in. A family in crisis is usually working desperately to feed, clothe, shelter, and educate their children.
Our Beds for Babies program helps families by providing a safe crib, toddler bed (age 3 and under), and/or mattress for these infants and toddlers.
We accept donations of cribs, toddler beds, and mattresses that are in good condition. We are unable to accept drop-side cribs due to safety issues.
You can provide a crib for a child in need! Just $150 will provide a crib, mattress, sheets, and blankets for an infant or toddler.
Dental health has a great effect on the overall health and well-being of children. Poor dental health can even impact the academic performance of children. The goal of our Brighter Smiles program is to provide an age-appropriate dental kit in every care package prepared for children ages 1 year and older.
A dental kit consists of:
- Age-appropriate toothpaste
- Age-appropriate toothbrush
- Floss or flossers as appropriate
- Educational materials (if available)
With the generous support of donors and various grants, we have provided nearly 400 dental kits per month to support the dental health of area children.
To assist us with our Brighter Smiles program, or if you are a local dentist interested in supporting this program, please call our office at 937-438-5039. We will answer any questions you may have about our Brighter Smiles program.
You can also choose to help right now! Make a financial gift today and you’ll be making a significant impact on the health of local children in need!
Blankets & Bears
Our Blankets & Bears program provides handmade blankets and soft, hand-sewn bears for the babies we serve. These precious items are paired with a new board book and are given to babies to encourage caregiver bonding, consistent bedtime routines, and an early love of reading. Families also receive information on safe sleep practices with each Blankets & Bears kit.
Area sewing groups and other community groups collaborate to cut out, sew, stuff, and finish the bears. Others help to cut out and finish receiving blankets.
Hannah’s Treasure Chest welcomes donations of baby-friendly flannel and microfleece, to make the blankets and bears. We are also in need of volunteers to cut out, sew, stuff, and finish bears. Interested in becoming a volunteer with us? Check out our volunteer information!
